Focusing on the Blur

"We cannot live for ourselves alone. Our lives are connected by a thousand invisible threads, and along these sympathetic fibers, our actions run as causes and return to us as results." -Herman Melville

Aunt status

That's right folks I'm officially an Aunt. My lil' bro, okay not so little 22 y/o, has given my parent's their first grandchild. Lilly Meadow was born on August 9th at 7:15 pm...don't know all the specifics on her stats, weighed something like 7 lbs..blurb oz. and was like 21, er inches. Yeah, I'm not exactly an attentive aunt, but at least I kept track of when she entered this crazy world. The little family is planning to move out here to Denver..wahoo I may actually get to know the wee one.

My BIG, un-fat, not so Greek Family

Yup, it's true. They finally made an appearance in gorgeous Denver, Colorado. It was their first trek to visit Jess n' I since we've moved here. We spent the better part of a week exploring the sites of Denver and the surrounding locales. It was so much fun to spend some good QT with the family. At the end of the week we headed on a family fun road trip down to Dallas, TX...the decision to go in August was out of my control. The temps soared into the 100s, but we met up with lots of old friends. Seth and I drove down with two little Murat's packed in the backseat of my Honda, there was a fight from the older two girls, but the innocent faces of the youngest won for the first leg of the trip. My parent's and the remaining two kids rode in their minivan. It was an uneventful trip with lots of sleeping and good tunes. Halfway through the drive there was the "mandatory" switch of "who rides next" with Becky and Seth. The younger two of the four were determined to argue the point that they had slept the whole time and that it wasn't fair that they had to get out, the older two won this one and we once again settled in the car. It was a long weekend of driving, but I've decided that families are an incredible thing to have in life.
